Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank announced on October 11th that head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimintroff had been fired.

After the team's loss to the Carolina Panthers, making the team 0-5 for the first time in 23 years, Blank decided enough was enough.

Quinn was in his sixth season and finished his time in Atlanta with a 43-42 record. He posted back-to-back 7-9 seasons heading into this year after taking his team to the Super Bowl in 2016 with Kyle Shanahan as offensive coordinator. He went 24-29 in the three seasons since the Super Bowl appearance.

Dimitroff joined the Falcons in 2008 and played an integral part in the team's success during that period. Since his arrival the Falcons have won 109 games, been to the playoffs six times and were NFC champions in 2016.

He has drafted several key franchise players like Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Grady Jarrett, Deion Jones and numerous others who have helped the Falcons become one of the winningest teams in the NFL over the past 10 seasons. Since 2008, the Falcons are eighth in the NFL and fourth in the NFC in wins.

"Our business is about winning football games and that is what all of us will work earnestly to do the rest of this season," Blank said in a letter to fans regarding the plans moving forward.
